Britney Lira, Infant Center Director
Britney began working for Action Day Primary Plus in fall 2005, where she held several roles within the Infant Center before becoming its Director. Britney earned her degree in Early Childhood Education and specialized in the sweet, loving infant/toddler stage. Her goal each day is to ensure the young children and infants who come to her center receive the best care possible. Her passion is to provide a safe, fun, and creative environment for children to learn, grow, and thrive, as well as one that parents feel comfortable and confident leaving their precious children. Britney feels that it is a joy to watch the children explore and become more active, confident, and independent with each milestone they reach.
Kara Hodgman, Preschool Director
Kara’s love for infants and toddlers began when she volunteered in the orphanages in Ecuador before receiving her B.A. Degree in University Studies with a minor in English Literature and Family Studies. Prior to coming to ADPP, she taught preschool for 10 years before opening her own in-home daycare. Kara started working for Action Day Primary Plus in 2017 as an Office Administrator at our El Quito location before moving to Phelan as our Preschool Director in June of 2018. She loves the community and family feel of Action Day Primary Plus- an environment she not only strives to uphold for the staff and families at Phelan, but also has her own 3 children take part in within our program.
Phelan School History
Our Phelan program began in 1989. The Phelan infant center and preschool is located in a neighborhood off of Williams Road in San Jose. The classrooms are large and the playground space provides for maximum outdoor activities. The staff has planned a large variety of experiences for young children in a caring environment.
The children are grouped according to ages in infant and preschool classes. There are a variety of field trips and enrichment activities. A large number of the children in the Phelan program move into the kindergarten program at Amber Drive when they are five years old.
