Mercedes Mendoza, Site Director
Mercedes began working at Action Day Primary Plus in 2016 as an Infant center teacher at our Campbell location. She fell in love with the atmosphere and overall care for the children at Action Day. After the Infant Center, she made her way through the Preschool and then to the office. She worked in the Campbell office for almost three years before moving to our Phelan location. She studied Child Development at De Anza College while focusing some of her courses on Early Childhood Mental Health. She has 10 years of experience working with children ages 0 to 6 and loves watching children grow through all stages of development. For her, it is important that all children have the opportunity to grow in a safe and nurturing environment.
Phelan School History
Our Phelan program began in 1989. The Phelan infant center and preschool is located in a neighborhood off of Williams Road in San Jose. The classrooms are large and the playground space provides for maximum outdoor activities. The staff has planned a large variety of experiences for young children in a caring environment.
The children are grouped according to ages in infant and preschool classes. There are a variety of field trips and enrichment activities. A large number of the children in the Phelan program move into the kindergarten program at Amber Drive when they are five years old.
West Valley Dance Company offers a wide selection of dance classes year-round for all ages, from 18 months to school age at all ADPP locations. Offering a professional education that caters to individual pace and growth, our roots are in the passion of teaching, and the staff at WVDC understands the importance of a child’s development at any age – ensuring our lessons go beyond those of the dance studio. Our staff will collect your child from their classroom and walk them to their onsite studio. At the end of class, they will walk them back to their classroom.
