1. Where are you from?
I am from Morgan Hill, California.
2. How long have you been with ADNPP?
I just started in July, 2009. I have been here for six months.
3. What is your childcare/teaching background and experience?
I have a BA in Child and Adolescent development from SJSU. I had my own home
daycare in Morgan Hill for two years prior to Action Day and I worked with
children from infants to twelve years of age. I have been a dance teacher
for seven years. I teach tap, jazz, and ballet to children ages three to
sixteen years of age at Lana’s Dance Studio. While I was in college at SJSU,
I was also a nanny for four children and a preschool volunteer at a local
preschool in Morgan Hill.
4. What do you like most about your job?
I love helping to make a difference in all of the children’s lives at
Moorpark by being involved with the events, curriculum and helping to make
positive changes to better our program. It is a great feeling to be involved
in the overall function of our school and watching the children develop and
grow from being apart of Action Day.
5. What do you think is special about your ADNPP
location?
The staff members!! I really enjoy working with every staff member here and
feel very lucky to have such a strong team of teachers and office gals that
really care to make a difference in the children’s lives. I feel we have
great group here, and our wonderful teachers reflect our program. It has
been my pleasure to get to know each and every one of them while I have been
apart of Action Day and see the effect they are making on the children in
their care.
6. What is your favorite part of the day
at ADNPP?
My favorite part of the day would be my mornings in the office. I love
seeing the children arrive with smiles on their faces and hearing their
sweet voices whisper “good morning” while they are still trying to wake up.
Children can always put a smile on my face and there is no better way to
start my day!!
7. What is the last book you read out loud?
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie!
8. What is the last book you read to
yourself?
The Secret! This book sure is something to live by.
9. What is the funniest thing a child has
said/done in your class?
Oh, there are so many! Everyday I come home with a story
about something funny a child said or did. The children give the office
something to laugh about on a daily basis. One memory that sticks out in my
head is when my husband came to Moorpark during safety prevention week. He
is a volunteer firefighter for Santa Clara County and came to visit all of
the classrooms. A child in our 3’s building was so funny during his visit
and kept telling me that my “brother” was so funny! Still to this day, the
little girl will ask me where my “brother” is and she has not forgotten
about him. No matter how many times I tell her it was my husband who came to
visit, she will still refer to him as my brother. Like I said before, the
innocence of children is priceless!
10. What do you do in your spare time?
I like to work out, read, and dance. I grew up dancing and
that has always been my first love!
11. What achievement are you most proud of?
I am most proud of graduating from college.
12. What is the single best piece of
advice you can give parents?
Enjoy every second with your child and take in those ‘little moments’. I am
the first to admit that parenting is one of the hardest jobs out there but
at the same time, it is the most remarkable feeling in the world. They help
to make life a little less serious and truly do add joy in everyone’s world.
Take the time to slow down and enjoy that.
