1. Where are you from?
I was raised in Morgan Hill, California.
2. How long have you been with ADPP?
I have been happily with ADPP for three years.
3. What is your teaching background and experience?
I have been teaching preschool ages 2 to 4 years old for ten years. I taught
in Morgan Hill and Gilroy and now I am with ADPP.
4. What do you like most about your job?
I like teaching children new things every day. Also, I like knowing that I
make a difference in children’s lives. I love listening to the children’s
laughter and seeing them smile.
5. What do you think is special about your ADPP
location?
Our Allen location is special first and foremost because of the children.
Secondly, the awesome office staff and the wonderful people who also work at
Action Day Allen make it special.
6. What is your favorite part of the day
at ADPP?
My favorite part of the day is the academic time in the morning- circle
time, math, writing, art and table activities. The children are so excited
about learning.
7. What is the last book you read out
loud?
I last read “Neptunes Nursery” to my class, a book about ocean animals. We
all loved it.
8. What is the last book you read to
yourself?
I’ve been in a Book Club for years; with women I met when my own girls were
in elementary school. Our choice of books for April was The Help, by Kathryn
Stockett. I thought it was a wonderful first novel by the author; her
characters jumped off the page.
9. What is the funniest thing a child has
said/done in your class?
There is not one particular moment that I think is funnier
than the other. I see and hear many funny things every day, all day.
Children are honest and that makes a lot of what they say and do funny.
10. What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I read and spend time with my family. We
love going to the beach.
11. What achievement are you most proud of?
I am most proud of being a mother to my wonderful son and for being able to
teach children.
12. What should children look forward to
doing/learning in pre-kindergarten?
Children should look forward to a fun and exciting academic environment as
well as a safe and positive learning experience.
13. What is the single best piece of
advice you can give parents of pre-kindergarteners?
My advice would be for parents to be an active part of their child’s
preschool education and encourage a great parent/teacher relationship for
the benefit of the child’s ongoing adventure in pre-k.
14. Do you have any healthy lunch ideas?
Try to have one fruit and or vegetable daily for lunch. It is very
important for their growth.
15. Do you have any learning to read
tips or other useful tips?
I recommend that parents work with their children at home and review the
alphabet and their sounds, and also to practice writing the alphabet and
small words as much as possible.
