1. How long have you been with ADNPP?
About 4 1/2 years.
2. What do you like most about your job?
I love teaching because I love getting to know the children, teaching the children, and being an important part of the children's lives. I still remember my teachers and how important they were to me.
3. Where are you from?
Trinidad, in the Caribbean
4. What is your childcare background and experience?
I have seven total years of teaching experience. I have taught as a Kindergarten aide, in toddler programs, and preschool. I baby sit a lot too.
5. What do you think is special about your ADNPP location?
I'm very supportive of the ADPP philosophy - learn as you play. Life is not all about getting the best job. Choices are important and it's important that the children are exposed to everything. Not everybody is going to be a doctor or lawyer and that's OK.
6. What is your favorite part of the day at ADNPP?
Naptime only because you get to know each student on an individual basis on that particular day the child doesn't want to sleep - and each day, there is usually one I get to know better by just talking to the child.
7. What is the last book you read out loud?
The Hungry Caterpillar.
8. What is the last book you read to yourself?
Five People You Meet in Heaven.
9. What is the funniest thing a child has said/done in your class?
A child was sitting at the table eating breakfast and started singing, 'We wish you a merry Starbucks with lots of whipped cream.'
10. What do you do in your spare time?
Catch up with all my TIVO. I watch Grey's Anatomy, House, Dirt, Girlfriends, and The Tyra Banks show.
11. What achievement are you most proud of?
Being able to make it on my own in the US.
12. What is the single best piece of advice you can give parents of 2 year olds?
Slow down the pace. Get up five minutes earlier so you don't have to rush in and out when you're dropping of your child. It's a better start to the day.
13. Do you have any healthy lunch ideas?
Try cheese, cold cuts and yogurt. Save the candy for rewards
14. Do you have any potty training tips?
Go straight to underpants if your child is showing interest in going to the potty. Don't use Pullups because they'll just confuse your child
