Meet The Davis Family from Amber!

Name: The Davis Family
ADPP Location: Amber

Where are you from originally?
I am from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. My husband’s father is also from Pittsburgh. Of course, we’re huge Steelers fans and we watch and wave our Terrible Towels on football Sundays. When my son was two, I asked him were we lived and he said, “Pittsburgh.”

How long have you lived in the area?
I moved to California when I was eighteen to go to school at USC. I eventually moved to Northern California and have lived in San Jose for the last fifteen years. I met my husband in San Jose and I must say San Jose has been very, very good to me.

What are the ages/grades of your children?
My husband and I have one little boy. Sean is five and is in Junior Kindergarten.

How long have you been with ADPP?
This is our first year at ADPP and it won’t be our last!

What do you think is special about your ADPP location?
We feel so at home at ADPP. The people that work at Amber are an extension to our family. I trust them entirely with my son and know he is in good hands everyday. As a working mom, thanks for the TLC at Primary Plus!

What is your child’s favorite part of the day at ADPP?
Recess, of course. He could play all day. He does love Music class, Spanish, Tumbling and his teachers Ms. West and Ms. Caces.

What is the last book you read to your child?
I just read Sean The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde. We found it at the library. It’s a fairy tale book Wilde wrote for his two sons.

What is the funniest thing your child has said/done?
Where do I start?! A friend and her kids were over and I asked her if they would like milk or j-u-i-c-e. My son promptly said, “I want the spelling one.”

What does your family like to do in your spare time/weekends?
We love to go to the beach. Next weekend, my husband is taking my son fishing.

What activities/programs are your kids involved in?
At least at this point, Sean’s favorite activity is Light Sabor Fighting but I think soccer is in his immediate future.

What is the single best piece of advice you can give other parents?
Have fun!

What is your favorite family restaurant?
We love the Sonoma Chicken Coop in Campbell!

Do you have any favorite activities around the area?
We love the Children’s Discovery Museum, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and Gilroy Gardens.

Do you have any family traditions that you’d like to share?
We love Friday Night Movies where we stay home, get cozy, eat pizza, and rent a movie. We also talk about high and low points every night at dinner.

What is your child’s favorite holiday? Why?
Sean’s favorite holiday is Christmas because Santa brings toys and he loves toys.

Do you have any discipline tips?
Stay firm and consistent and good luck!

Do you have tips for favorite activities?
I love the simple ideas. Yesterday, the kids played with the hose and few big red tubs and had a ball. I think we can make the activities too complicated. Get back to the basics. Remember how much fun a big red ball, a yo-yo, and a kite is?
