1. Where are you from originally?
I’m originally from Lompoc, California. It’s close to Vandenburg Air Force
Base and on the coast between Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo.
2. How long have you lived in the area?
I went to college at UC Santa Cruz. I moved here three years after
graduating from college.
3. What are the ages/grades of your children?
I have two boys; Colin who is in Ms. Harders’ 3rd grade class and Brandon
who is in Mr. Martin’s 2nd grade class.
4. How long have you been with ADNPP?
Colin went to Moorpark when he was one year old. Brandon started at Lincoln
and then moved to Moorpark. We had to leave for awhile but we returned to
Moorpark the year before Colin stated Kindergarten at Amber.
5. What do you think is special about your ADNPP
location?
The staff is special. We have the best staff here at Amber between the
office folks, the teachers and the after care staff.
6. What is your child’s favorite part of the day at ADNPP?
The kids love free play time.
7. What is the last book you read to your kids?
Wow! I don’t read to them anymore, they read to me. Colin is now starting
the Eragon series. Brandon is reading the Magic School Bus series and so he
reads to me about bats.
8. What is the funniest thing your child has said/done?
The funniest thing lately is probably when the boys came in singing, “Shake
your booty, shake your booty…” while dancing around and wiggling their
butts.
9. What does your family like to do in your spare
time/weekends?
We like to relax on the weekends because we lead very busy lives. On the
weekends, it’s down time. We’ll play some games, watch movies and just chill
out.
10. What ADNPP activities/programs are you involved in?
The boys have been involved with the ADNPP Dance Program (Tumbling/Karate),
Choir, Flag Football and Baseball. I am the President of the Amber Community
Club (ACC) Parent Group.
11. What made you choose to become President of the
Amber Community Club (ACC) Parent Group?
It’s important to me to show the kids how important participation,
commitment and responsibility are in life. The boys are very proud of the
fact that I take an active role in their school. For me, it’s one way I can
meet and be involved with other parents and the teachers and staff. The
reward is seeing all the happy students after all our hard work.
12. What is the single best piece of advice you can give
other parents?
Enjoy every moment with your children. Take the time with them even when you
think you can’t. The time goes by so quickly and you can’t get it back. Be
involved in your children’s lives.
13. What is your favorite family restaurant?
Mimis. They have some great children’s plates and the boys eat them up.
14. What is your child’s favorite meal?
Colin’s favorite meal is hot dogs and fries. Brandon’s favorite meal is
shrimp and fruit.
15. Do you have any family traditions that you’d like to
share?
Christmas is our big family event. We do a lot with decorating the house and
making/decorating cookies.
16. What is your child’s favorite holiday? Why?
Both boys love Christmas for the presents. Colin also likes trick or
treating on Halloween.
17. Do you have any discipline tips?
Be clear and consistent. They need to know why they’re being disciplined and
they should be disciplined consistently. You can’t let them get away with
something one day and then punish them for it the next day.
18. Do you have any healthy eating tips such as healthy
meals that kids like?
Always provide a fruit and vegetable for every meal. If you frequently
introduce new ones into your meals, you’ll find ones your children suddenly
like and will offer more flexibility in your meal planning.
