Brendan Lopez is a third-grade student at Primary
Plus Elementary School (Amber) who has already proven to be a star
athlete. This year is Brendan's fifth season in Fearless Baseball League
at Primary Plus. And this year he joined the new Flag Football League at
Primary Plus. He also has a red belt in Tae Kwon Do and would like to
earn his black belt. He has played several seasons of soccer through the
West Valley Youth Soccer League and plays basketball through the San
Jose Japanese CYS program. According to his Mom, Michelle, he would also
love to play Lacrosse and Roller Hockey but they haven’t been able to
find the time.

Brendan has not only excelled at whatever sport he takes on, he also
excels in the classroom. Brendan’s favorite subject is English or
Reading. Last summer, Brendan read the Harry Potter series just for fun.
Brendan especially likes to read about U.S. History and topics relating
to science such as the planets, crystals, and earthquakes.
When Brendan is not playing sports or doing homework he loves watching
sports, especially the San Jose Sharks and the San Francisco Giants.
Brendan was born a San Jose Sharks fan. Before he could even speak, he
would get excited if he saw anyone wearing any Sharks clothes. By the
age of two, Brendan could name all of the Sharks players by picture.
Brendan’s ability to excel comes directly from the support he receives
from his family. Brendan’s parents have always stressed the importance
of having fun in addition to trying his best. Brendan quickly learned
that it didn’t matter if he won or lost as long as he gave it his all.
Additionally, Brendan’s father, Ken, would always try to teach Brendan
the rules of the game as he participated, which put him on the path to
good sportsmanship.
The full article and Brendan’s photo will be featured in the July issue
of the San Jose Magazine.
