April 30, 2008 (San José, CA) - Action Day
Primary Plus proudly announced today they were selected as the 10th best
place to work in the annual Best Place to Work in the Greater Bay Area
within the 101-500 employees category. The contest was sponsored by San
Francisco Business Times, Silicon Valley Business Journal and East Bay
Business Times. The awards were announced at a gala awards celebration
on April 29th at the Hilton San Francisco Hotel.
In order to qualify for the contest, employers needed to register and
have employees submit their responses during the months of February and
March. Each company’s score was entirely based on its employees’
responses of 37 statements. Employees were asked to rate their
satisfaction with their company’s benefits. There were over 500
nominations, and this was the first year Action Day Primary Plus entered
the contests.
Carole Freitas of Los Gatos, the founder and owner of Action Day Primary
Plus Schools, was thrilled to receive the honor knowing that it came
from her own staff, “The most important factor in providing quality
programs for young children is having employees that feel positive about
their work environment. We are so honored and thankful to be included
among the Bay area’s top employers. This year also marks the 40th
anniversary since the first Acton Day Primary Plus opened its first
school in Santa Clara, CA on Pruneridge Avenue,” said Ms. Freitas.
Cathy Jelic of Cambrian/Branham area is the Human Resources Director of
Action Day Primary Plus. She was at the San Francisco reception and was
honored to accept the award on behalf of the company. “In an industry
that sometimes experiences difficulty with employee retention and
satisfaction the outcome is very impressive for us. We pride ourselves
in providing appealing compensation packages including discounts on
childcare,” said Ms. Jelic.
Action Day Primary Plus employees were enthusiastic and grateful upon
hearing the news of their placement, including preschool teacher Nicole
Lawson of Sunnyvale. Nicole has been teaching preschool at the Moorpark
location for 8 years and is currently a resident of Sunnyvale. “As a
teacher at Action Day Primary Plus, I have experienced the joy of
working with a great team of caring teachers. I am proud to say my
children have attended Action Day Primary Plus for 8 years. Working for
Action Day Primary Plus and having my children attend the program has
been on of the most rewarding experiences I have had!” said Ms. Lawson.
